The Spanish forward is set to follow Shkodran Mustafi to the Emirates, with Arséne Wenger confirming both players are Arsenal players – subject to finalisation of paperwork. The duo had medicals in London on Friday and their transfers will take the Gunners spending to around £100m.
Perez will be primarily used as a centre-forward at Arsenal once he completes his move from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m, with Arsenal also paying £35m to Valencia for Mustafi.
“I think they should both go through. They have both had medicals and we just have to finish the paperwork”, Wenger confirmed.
“It looks like it will be announced next week.” [Daily Mail].
Meanwhile, the Arsenal boss has allayed fears that Nacho Monreal suffered an injury in Saturday’s win over Walter Mazzari’s Watford at Vicarage Road – their first three points of the campaign.
The 30-year old left-back limped off in the 71st minute but Wenger claims Monreal suffered only a knock and not a leg injury.
