Player Ratings: Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

Laurent Koscielny
Arsenal were a little fortunate to come away with a point from the Premier League champions this evening as Leicester City were denied a late stonewall penalty.

Laurent Koscielny put in a man of the match performance at the back for the Gunners as he was key in preventing the likes of Jamie Vardy causing problems to Petr Čech.

Here are CSAR’s player ratings from Leicester City 0-0 Arsenal:
Petr Čech 7 – Some nice footwork early in the second half but wasn’t greatly tested by the defending champions until denying Mahrez at the end.  Beat Jamie Vardy to the ball in a close race in the first half.
Héctor Bellerín 7 – Substitute Ahmed Musa caused the right-back real problems late on.  Héctor Bellerín was fortunate not to concede a penalty.  Had kept Marc Albrighton under control prior to that.

Rob Holding 7 – A decent game from the youngster although Jamie Vardy did get the better of him on occasion.  However the Leicester striker didn’t get himself in a goalscoring position.
Laurent Koscielny 10 – Fantastic at the back which included an important challenge on Danny Drinkwater inside the penalty area in the first half.  Shielded Riyad Mahrez out of a good opportunity too and put Vardy off on a one-on-one midway through second half.
Nacho Monreal 7 – Good positional sense and offered support going forward. Riyad Mahrez caused the Arsenal left-back the odd problem though.
Francis Coquelin 8 – Fortunate not to be a shown a second yellow card 10 minutes into the second half after a foul on Riyad Mahrez on the edge of the area.  The French midfielder certainly took his chances in this game diving into tackles and committing fouls.  Did win the ball back for his side time and time again including a number of aerial duels.
Granit Xhaka 7 – Saw a lot of the ball and showed off his great passing ability with that left foot.

Theo Walcott 5 – Got in some good positions but Theo Walcott really should have taken at least one of the three good chances he had.
Santi Cazorla 5 – Struggled to get into the game and didn’t make any impact before being replaced in the final 20 minutes.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 7 – Enjoyed taking on Danny Simpson and the Leicester team which including creating a chance for himself that went narrowly wide in the first half.
Alexis Sánchez 6 – Usual hardworking effort.  Second game he’s started up front and is yet to test the goalkeeper in either.  Overhit a few passes.  It wasn’t Alexis Sánchez’s day.
Substitutes

Mesut Özil (18 mins) N/A – Showed some good touches in his cameo role.
Jack Wilshere (18 mins) N/A – Brought some positive energy onto the field but it wasn’t enough.  A heavy touched inside the penalty area prevented Jack Wilshere from getting a late opportunity.
Olivier Giroud (13 mins) N/A – Looked rusty with some of his chances and didn’t get a shot away in his late appearance.
