Wellington Silva has left Arsenal to rejoin Brazilian side Fluminense on a four-year deal without making an appearance for the Premier League club.
Wellington Silva has left Arsenal without making a senior appearance
The winger joined Arsenal in 2010 and spent his first five seasons on loan in Spain as he was unable to claim a work permit to play in England.
After temporary spells with Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murcia and Almeria, Silva received his permit at the start of 2015-16 and got his first taste of senior football in England when he joined Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old made 22 Sky Bet Championship appearances for Bolton, scoring twice, but spent more than two months on the sidelines with a torn hamstring.
He said: "I am very happy. I want to thank Fluminense for this opportunity after so long to go back, I'm eager to start. I am very anxious, really it is like the first time.
"[My] Desire to return has always existed. When I learned that it was possible I was nervous for 10 days. I am very happy and I have no words to thank. Now I have to train and get on to the field as quickly as possible."
